Where should i start a farm, and some ranching ideas?

hi, in my class we have to write a mini book about our future. i want to be a cattle farmer ( country girl ) :D but im not really informed on places to raise cattle. i want to have a ranch with [LOTS] of land. plus we have to explain everything about how we are going to live and how many children... so it also has to be fitted for a family. to give you an idea, i lovee the ranch in montana sky by nora roberts. its also a book. that kind of thing. so i need ideas on places to start a ranch and that's also fit for a large family, cause i want 6 kids. :) any ideas, and if you have suggestions about money, id love to hear them. thanks
